Robert Eugene Hallford, 79, of Abilene, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024. He was born on June 1, 1944, in Rising Star to George Lee Hallford and Annice Estell (Gressett) Hallford.
Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, February 15 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery.
Robert grew up near Thrifty, TX, and graduated from Bangs High School in 1962. He went to work for the Texas Highway Department for 37 years, and he served his country in the Army National Guard. He married Gina Duncan on June 11, 1965 at Rocky Creek Baptist Church. Robert enjoyed taking his family camping and water skiing. His favorite pastime was fishing, and he taught his son, Cliff, how to fish and his daughter, Lisa, how to ski. He also coached the Pop Warner Football (Cardinals), leading them one year to the city championship. Robert was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church and the Still Waters Bass Club. When he wasn't working or spending time outdoors with his family, he enjoyed watching the Dallas Stars hockey games.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Annice Hallford, brother Edward Hallford, and sisters Modine Allen and Georgianna Stone.
Robert is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Gina Hallford; son, Cliff Hallford and wife Dee; daughter, Lisa Roy and husband Barry; sister, Edna Sowell and husband Waymon; grandchildren, Nick and Madison Roy, Katelyn and Makayla Hallford, Dara DeLeon, and Kyndall Wise.
