Robert Dexter

December 10, 1955 — February 21, 2025

In the calm of early morning, February 21, 2025, Robert (Bob) found peace with his last breath after a short, intensive battle with Alzheimer's. He was preceded in death by his mom and dad. Robert leaves behind his wife (Iris) of 47 years, brother-in-law (Patrick), sisters Kathleen and Wanda, and brothers John and Michael.

Robert was born on December 10, 1955 in Stuttgart, Germany. His life path took him to many interesting places in the United States until his teen years when the family moved to the Texas Hill Country where he lived most of his life. The Texas Hill Country is where he met the love of his life and married on May 20, 1978. Bob's work ethic and determination lead him to earn a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from St. Edwards University in Austin as well as serving 22 years in the army as Master Sergeant. In 2012 Bob and Iris moved from their home in Fredericksburg, TX to Abilene.

Bob's passions and detail-oriented nature showed in meticulously manicured lawns, a successful knife/tool sharpening business, and his enthusiastic bicycling adventures.

A memorial service in Bob's honor will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 at the Hamil Family funeral home at 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Bob's final resting place will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Fredericksburg, TX. The family asks that memorials be made to the charity of their choice.
