Robert William Dennis

Robert William “Bob” Dennis, 82, of Abilene, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at a local hospital. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday at 51 Pebble Beach. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery, 5701 Hwy. 277 South. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Bob was born in Dixon, Missouri on March 6, 1931 to Robert and Bessie Lee (Sweatmon) Dennis. He grew up in Rule, Texas and graduated from Rule High School. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Marguerite Williams in Abilene, Texas on November 11, 1956. He worked as a banker and was also an artist. Abilene has been Bob’s home for the past 60 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Marguerite. He is survived by two sons, John Stephen Dennis and wife Denise, Robert Scott Dennis and wife Jennifer; one daughter, Jacqueline Kaye Faircloth; one sister, Pat Shepherd, all of Abilene; six grandchildren, Zachary Scott Faircloth, Stephen Chase Dennis, John-Michael Faircloth, Hailey Elizabeth Faircloth, Brooke Denise Dennis and Jackson Parker Dennis; as well as the Shepherd and Williams Families. Honorary pallbearers will be Zachary Scott Faircloth, Stephen Chase Dennis, John-Michael Faircloth, Jackson Parker Dennis, Stan West, Pat Crofton, John Bryant, Dennis Shepherd and Doug Shepherd.
