Robert Eugene Broughton, Sr. (Big Blade Bob), 71, of Nevada, Missouri, passed on November 28, 2022, in Abilene, Texas. He is remembered by his family as being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved fishing and enjoyed turning wrenches, which was passed down to all three of his sons.
Visitation will be 2:00 – 4:00, Sunday, December 4, 2022, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held 1:00, Monday, December 5, 2022, at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Robert Eugene Broughton, Sr. was born at Robins Air Force Base, Warner Robins, Georgia to Charles Eugene Broughton, Jr and Nellie Faye Broughton on March 26, 1951. He went to school and graduated from Nevada High School. He worked as a heavy machine operator for Deffenbaugh Waste Management for about 15 years. In addition, he worked as a heavy machine operator and instructor for the United States Army for 20 years. He was a veteran of Vietnam and served in the United States Army and was awarded three Army Commendation Medals and one Army Achievement Medal.
Robert Eugene Broughton, Sr was preceded in death by his father, Charles Eugene Broughton, Jr and mother, Nellie Faye Broughton.
Robert Eugene Broughton, Sr is survived by his wife, Judith Louise Broughton; son, James Joseph Agee and wife, Helen Faye Agee; son, Robert Eugene Broughton Jr; son, Keith Allen Broughton and wife, Linda Marie Broughton; brother, Dwight Allan Broughton and wife, Barbara Broughton; brother Kevin Broughton and wife, Sherri Broughton; grandchildren, Cody Michael Kendrick; Griffin Eugene Broughton; Austin Allen Broughton; Makayla Marie Broughton; and Gabrielle Renee Broughton.
Memorials may be given to The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
