Robbie Jean Vaughn, 76, died Monday, August 17, 2009, at her residence at Hodges, Texas after a long battle with heart problems.
The daughter of Nellie (Pace) and Zeb Ice, she was born on March 4, 1933 in Glen Rose, Texas, where she graduated from high school. Jean married David Vaughn on January 23, 1953 in Abilene, and moved from Abilene to Hodges in 1958.
Jean was a longtime employee of Luskey's Western Wear, having worked there for 27 years. She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Anson.
Jean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
Her daughter, Rebecca Lynn Vaughn; parents; two brothers and one sister, preceded her in death.
Jean is survived by her husband of 56, years, David Vaughn of Hodges; sons, Leon Vaughn and wife, Tonya, of Stephenville, and Wendell Stanley of Hodges; daughter, Deborah Crawford of Abilene; sister, Verna Bush of Fort Worth, Texas; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and several adopted grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Anson, with Pastor Cody Cochran and assistant, Carter Edmondson officiating. Interment will follow in Midway Cemetery at Hodges directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Steve Akard, Scott Clowdus, Jed Beasley, Dean Beasley, Dee Bland and Tim Farmworth. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Gilbert, Joe Paul Howle, Bill Sims, and Mike McCullen.
