Rick Martin, 68, died Monday, February 20, 2017, in Abilene, Texas.
Born in Big Spring, Texas on January 9, 1949, he was the son of Jewel Abbie (McMillan) and Acie Woodrow Martin. Rick graduated from Cooper High School in Abilene. He was an iron worker and metal building designer. He created Ab-Tex Metal Buildings, then proceeded to retire to spend his days living the good life playing golf, until God decided it was his time to join him in Heaven to be with his best friend and brother again. Rick spent his life enjoying music, playing the guitar with friends, and overall spending every day with a smile on his face.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Martin, Jr., his parents, sister, Barbara Joyce Pearson and one brother, Tom Martin.
Survivors include two sons, Buck Martin and wife Stephanie of Saltillo, Texas, and Dusty Martin and wife Whitney of Abilene; his sister, Betty Loyce Elliott of Ellsworth, Ohio; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 23rd, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 24th, in Eula Cemetery.
