Richard F. Wonnacott, Jr. 71, of Abilene,Texas, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. Celebration of Life service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 23, 2020 at Ascension of our Lord Mausoleum in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. Born in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, on July 18,1949, Richard was the son of the late Mildred (Brou) and Richard F. Wonnacott, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Wonnacott. Richard enjoyed camping, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. He was a volunteer of the Donaldsonville Fire Department for several years. Richard worked for the State Department of Public Works, as well as,the City of Donalsonville before starting with McDermott, Incorporated as a heavy equipment operator. He worked in the shipyard for 18 years. Richard moved to Abilene, Texas in 1997. Richard is survived by his wife, Jet B. Wonnacott, five children, Carla Joseph and husband Keith, Sr. of Donaldsonville, June Corbino and husband Vincent of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Rhea Rodriguez and husband Dawson of Abilene, Dodie Martin and husband Thomas of Abilene, and Jeremy Wonnacott of Clyde.Survivors also include two brothers, Tommye Wonnacott and wife Elsie, and Roy Mark Wonnacott, all of Donaldsonville; two sisters, Pat Lasseigne and husband Gerald of Donaldsonville, and Linda Bailey and husband Harry of Napoleonville, LA; seventeen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made in Richard’s honor to Hendrick Hospice Care or Rescue The Animals.
