Richard "Rick" E. Mullins

 Rick Mullins, 71, of Abilene, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 in Abilene, Texas. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am  Thursday, January 11th, 2024 at The Hamil Funeral Home.   Burial will follow at Buffalo Gap Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. 

Rick was born Portales, New Mexico to James and Gerri Lee on February 1, 1952.  He went to school at Abilene, Texas. He graduated from Wylie High School in 1970.   He married Donna Kennedy Mullins on November 24, 1972 in Wichita Falls. He worked for 11 years at Abilene Sheet Metal and in 1984 established his own company, Mull-Tex Mechanical, which he owned and operated until his retirement in July 2020.   

Rick was preceded in death by his father, James Mullins, who passed away in 2018.    

Rick is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna; his son Craig and wife Gwen; his daughter Haylee, his mother Gerri Lee, his sister Jan, his sister Tracie McLeod and husband Gary, his brother Scott and his brother Justin.  

Pallbearers will be Les Mitchell, Zane Wright, Ray Guiterrez, Craig Mullins, Justin Mullins and Bill Pursley. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Eaves and Scott Mullins.  

The family of Rick wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses in ICU at Hendricks Hospital South, the doctors and nurses at Hendricks Hospice of Abilene and all the friends and family who came to visit.
