Richard Leon Johnson Jr., 73, of Abilene, passed away on March 12, 2018 in Abilene, Texas. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday March 15, 2018 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 16th, 2018 at Brook Hollow Christian Church with Penny Biddy officiating. Burial will follow after lunch at 2:00 PM at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery of Abilene. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Richard was born in Waxahachie TX, to Virginia and Richard Leon Johnson Sr. on February 28, 1945. He married Carrolyn Johnson on October 14, 1989 in Buffalo Gap, Texas. He worked as a Safety Director for transportation companies in Texas. He was a veteran of The Vietnam War and served in the Air Force and was awarded the Air Force Good Conduct and National Defense Service medals. Richard enjoyed riding Harleys, golf, and was loved by many, many friends and neighbors. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Virginia and Herman James Morrsman and Richard Sr. and Betty Johnson Richard is survived by his wife, Carrolyn Johnson, and his four children, Christi Covington and her husband Michael, Kelly Scheel-Ayers and her husband Eric, Chad Armstrong and his wife Angela, and Ginger Womble, as well as his 9 grandchildren - Shelby, Kennedi, Jett, Katie, Harrison, Sydney, Kylie, Ronan, and Henry.
