Richard Oliver Claspill, of Abilene, died Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the age of 64. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 17 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Richard was born October 16, 1943 in Modesto, California to Oliver Rudolf and Velma Naomi Claspill. He graduated from Hilmar High School in California. He served in the United States Air Force from October 1963 to February 4, 1984. Retiring after 21 years of service, Richard retired from the United States Postal Service after 20 years. He married Kimberly Varnadore on July 26, 2004. Richard has been an Abilene resident since 1970. His pride and joy was his lime green 1957 Chevrolet and he greatly enjoyed fishing. His father preceded him death. Richard is survived by his mother, Naomi Claspill of Yuba City, California; his wife, Kimberly Claspill of Abilene; three sons, Michael Claspill of Abilene, Richard Claspill of Willis, Texas, and Randy Claspill of Abilene; four step-sons, Edward Jr., Alejandro, Moses, and Salvador DeLeon, all of Abilene; one step-daughter, Amanda DeLeon, also of Abilene; one brother, Dennis Claspill of Long Beach, California; two sisters, Darlene Abella, of Yuba City, California and Cheryl Hall of Meridian, California; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made in honor of Richard Claspill to the Food Bank of West Central Texas, 5505 North 1st Street, Abilene, Texas 79603 or to the West Texas Rehab Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, Texas 79605.
