Richard Taylor Campbell, 75, died Monday, July 1, 2013 at a medical center in Abilene, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 5, in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap in Abilene. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at the funeral home. Richard was born to Billie June (Tallerday) and Taylor William Campbell on March 27, 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Des Moines Tech. High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. In 1957, he moved to Texas where he met and soon married Jaretta Weed on November 28, 1957. They had been residents of Abilene since 1957. Richard worked as a service manager for Big Country Dodge and Sterling Volkswagen before entering a career in teaching at Texas State Technical College (TSTC). He later was employed by Lockheed Martin as a computer systems analyst, retiring in 2004. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and two brothers, Ross Campbell and Frank Campbell. Richard is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jaretta Campbell of Abilene; son, Lance Campbell of Sweetwater; two daughters, J Lynn Kehr and husband James, and Tiffany Campbell, all of Abilene; three sisters, Pat Green, Laura Ogborn and Sue Northway all of Des Moines, Iowa; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
