Richard S. Bowser, 92, died Saturday, December 19, 2009, at an Abilene nursing center. No services are planned. Arrangements are being made by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Inurnment of his cremains will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California.
The son of the late Nell (Powell) and Roy P. Bowser, Richard was born on October 25, 1917, in Kittanning, Pennsylvania. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Richard was an antique dealer and restored antique clocks. He was a member of the Pipe Organ Society.
An avid bicycle rider, Richard in 1937 rode from Chicago to Los Angeles, a trip which took him through Abilene, Texas.
Richard is survived by a brother, Thomas E. Bowser and wife, Diana, of Abilene; sisters, Janet Hughes of Abilene and Rosanne McGarvey of Athens, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
