Rhama Carol Latson Maxwell, 82, of Abilene passed away on August 15, 2017 in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 17, 2017, 6-8 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Friday, August 18, 2017 at Baker Heights Church of Christ in Abilene with Gary Montgomery and Ron McElyea officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm in Eastland Cemetery in Eastland, Texas.
Rhama was born in Lamesa, Texas to Arthur Carroll Latson and Esther Frances Brown March 15, 1935. She attended Abilene Christian College. She married Clinton Doyle Maxwell on February 1, 1955. She was a homemaker and active in the church as a Deacon and Elder's wife at 14th and Main Church of Christ in Big Spring, Texas, Daughtery Church of Christ in Eastland, Texas, the Church of Christ in Breckenridge, Texas, and Baker Heights Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas. She taught numerous children's and ladies Bible classes. She was a member of the Red Hat's Society and loved to plan and decorate social activities for the church and others.
Rhama was preceded in death by her husband Doyle and daughter Patricia.
Rhama is survived by her daughters Dena Heaton and husband Ron Heaton, Debora Alexander and husband Terry Alexander, Sue Whaley and husband Bill Whaley. Her brother Larry Latson and wife Judy Latson of Nashville, Tennessee. Ten grandchildren, Jason Hearon, Kristi Landeros and husband Johnny Landeros, Zachary Alexander and wife Krystle Alexander, Caleb Gulley, Mackenzie Gulley, Stephanie Warner and husband Shane Warner, Lexie Whaley, Payton Whaley, Rhett Whaley, and Julie Moore. Ten great grandchildren, Preston Hearon, Kaden Landeros, Jazlyn Landeros, Addison Hearon, Baylee Alexander, Kiley Landeros, Evan Alexander, Mathias Warner, Hannah Moore and Hailey Moore.
Pallbearers will be Ron Heaton, Terry Alexander, Bill Whaley, Jason Hearon, Caleb Gulley, Austin Kent, Payton Whaley, Shane Warner, and Johnny Landeros. Honorary Pallbearers are Zachary Alexander, Jerry Smith, Sonny Goode, Charles Payne, Phil Madley, Jesse Pharis.
