Reba Leonora Rude, 93, died Thursday, March 6, 2014 in Abilene, Texas.
The daughter of Matilda Adeline (Poe) and Clarence Herbert May, she was born on March 14, 1920 in Bell County, Texas and graduated from Moody High School. Reba married William “Bill” Curgie Rude on September 27, 1939 in Temple, Texas. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
For 45 years Reba was owner and operator of Village School and May-Ric Day Care in San Antonio, Texas. She had a special place in her heart for all of the kids and families that went through her school for the 45 years.
In July, 2006, she moved from San Antonio to Abilene, where she was a member of Hawley Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Rude on March 11, 1987, and her parents.
Survivors include her daughter, Judith “Judy” May Templeton and husband Richard of Hawley, Texas; two grandsons, Jess Albert Templeton and Seth William Templeton; and one niece, Suzanne Dansby and her son Casey Patterson.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, in Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple, Texas, with Paul Hendrickson officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family would like to think Dr. Brian Ganesh, West Texas Rehabilitation Center Pacesetters, and Wisteria Place and staff for the excellent care they gave Reba.
