Randal Wiginton, 81, of Abilene, departed this world to behold the glory of Christ on July 18, 2024 in Abilene.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Sunday, July 21 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am Monday, July 22 at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Randal was born in Abilene to Huey and Ara Wiginton on December 29, 1942. He graduated from Abilene High School, Hardin-Simmons University, and Texas Tech University. He married Gloria Gayle on June 12, 1965 in Abilene. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army Ordinance Corp from 1965-67. He worked as a geophysicist for Mobile Oil in Dallas for ten years before returning to Abilene to start his own geophysical consulting business. He was a car enthusiast, amateur mechanic, certified flight instructor, classical violinist, prolific scale modeler, deacon, and freemason. He was an exemplary husband, father, and friend. He was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church and was eager for everyone to know how to have eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
Randal was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Gloria Wiginton; his sons Clark Wiginton (Stephanie) of Buffalo Gap and Daniel Wiginton (Micah) of Aberdeen, NJ; and his grandchildren Samuel, Elizabeth, Katherine, Asher, Hannah, Benjamin, Isaac, Esther, Jade, and Patrick.
Pallbearers will be Clark Wiginton, Daniel Wiginton, Samuel Wiginton, Asher Wiginton, Randy Hobbs, and Virgil Brister.
Memorials may be given to the International Mission Board (www.imb.org).
