R. Dewayne Crossland

R. Dewayne Crossland, of Abilene, Texas, died Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at his home in the loving care of his beloved wife, Terri Christiansen. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. He is survived by the children of his heart, Jeremy and Eric, and his own much loved children, Justin Crossland and Nicole Taggart. DeWayne also left behind his two adored older sisters, Barbara Bradshaw, of Abilene, Texas and Linda Simpson McDermid, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A special mention must be made of his extended family members, Diana Shouse Cobb, who never left his or his wife's side during the long last weeks until the very end; "Mama" Ruth Scott who he loved and respected more than life itself; Justin Paul Shaver, who was another son of his heart; and his life-long best friend, Kelsey Stark. Dewayne's second home was at D and H Rig Service, where he loved and was loved by those men that he worked with, who never failed to help when times were hard and he could no longer work. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Martha Faye Crossland, of Abilene, Texas.
