Roy Kendall Badgett, 76 of Abilene, Texas, went to be with The Lord on May 7, 2015 in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. A small funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with the Reverend Jeff Zirkle of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Bradshaw Cemetery in Bradshaw, Texas.
Kendall was born on November 16, 1938 in Winters, Texas, to A.B and Hazel Badgett. He went to school at Bradshaw and Winters, Texas and finished at Lovington, New Mexico. He married Judy Ledbetter on December 20, 1960 in Winters, Texas. He graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1962. He worked as an Insurance Agent for over 40 years. He served in the US Army with the Battery A 5th Missile Br 517th Arty ARADCOM as a Radar Bomb Scorer and was awarded for Sharpshooter (M-14 Rifle), Expert (Carbine), Basic Missleman Badge and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Life Insurance Underwriters and served on several different committees. He was also involved in coaching through Dixie Little League, Southern Little League, Abilene Senior League and Girls Softball. He coached several Dixie Little League All Star teams to City, District and State Tournaments and coached several Girls Softball teams to District, State and National tournaments. He was a devoted Christian man and taught Sunday School in various Methodist Churches for over 40 years.
Kendall was preceded in death by his Father, A.B. Badgett and Mother, Hazel Badgett; Brother, Wayne Badgett and wife, Claudine Badgett.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy Badgett, Daughter Kendra Guy, Son Greg Badgett and wife Linda and Daughter Jennifer Dusckas and husband Greg; three grandchildren, Ken Guy and wife Melissa, Klay Guy and Jordan Dusckas; and one great-grandchild, Savannah Guy; three nieces, Alana Coleman and husband Ronney; LaWane Mezulic and husband Mili, and Sherri Flow and husband David; three great nephews and one great niece.
Pallbearers will be Greg Badgett, Greg Dusckas, Ken Guy, Klay Guy, Ed Alford, Russell Higgins, and Joe Stalls. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wally Milliner, Jim Dusckas, and Kirk Whitehurst.
