Price Mathieson of Abilene became a citizen of Heaven on September 8, at the age of 86. He was born in Luling, TX on January 26, 1936, to Jack and Mildred Mathieson. Price graduated from Baylor University and attended Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth.
On December 21, 1958, he married Mary Darden in Lorenzo, TX. On January 2, 1961, he became a devoted father to Renee.
Price was pastor of Buckholts Baptist Church and Chalk Bluff Baptist while at Baylor. Following the completion of his degree, he taught and coached at Bremond High School and Campbell University in Kentucky. He and Mary volunteered to go to Japan to teach and coach under the direction of the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board in 1968 but had to return to the states due to Renee’s illness. In 1970, Price became a chaplain at Hendrick Medical Center where he served for almost 30 years. During that time at Hendrick, Price was also a pastor at Lawn Baptist Church for 33 years and later at Wingate for 7 years. Price was a member of Southwest Rotary Club and a board member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Price was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Renee Elmore, granddaughter, Molly McCurdy, and brother Paul Mathieson. He is survived by his wife, Mary; grandson, John McCurdy and wife Laura and their son, Theo; granddaughter, Caroline Seikel and husband Michael and their daughter, Vivian Renee; son-in-law, Bill Elmore; sisters, Ann Kent of Luling and Opal (Steve) Klempa of Tyler, and special nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday evening, September 9, from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Celebration of Life will be at Lawn Baptist Church on Saturday morning, September 10, at 10:30 am. Interment will be at 10:00 am at Elmwood Memorial Park on Tuesday, September 13.
