Peter J. Kasimirs
Peter Kasimirs, 93, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2006 in Abilene. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00pm on Sunday, January 8, 2006 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. A memorial service will be held in honor of Mr. Kasimirs at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 9, 2006 at The Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest, with Rev. Rosemary Thomas and Rev. Scott Mayer officiating.
Mr. Kasimirs was born on November 14, 1912 in East Beuthen, Germany to Peter Kasimirs and Gertrude Lajef Kasimirs. He was the oldest of six children. He fled Germany to Canada where he was awarded his citizenship. He then moved to Montgomery, Alabama where he established a hotel. Peter married Pat Wilson on October 2, 1974 in Birmingham, Alabama. The couple moved to Abilene in 1974, where they established the Royal Inn and Steakhouse. They owned and operated the landmark hotel until they retired in 1986.
Mr. Kasimirs was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife, Pat Kasimirs of Abilene, his son, David Kasimirs of Abilene, two nephews, Ted Banisch of Grinsby, Ontario, and Werner Banisch of Rimpar, Germany, and two sisters, Maria Boehm of Chiemesse, Germany and Trautle Ley of Gelnhousen, Germany.
