Perry W. Scott, Sr., 84, of Clyde, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, June 1 at Woodlawn Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Thursday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. October 12, 1922, Perry was born in Nugent, Texas to B.B. Scott, Sr. and Fannie Sue (Perry) Scott. After graduating from high school, Perry joined the United States Air Force during World War II. In 1946, Perry married Dorothy "Dot" Jacqueline Eaton in Abilene. While serving his country during war time, Perry was the Crew Chief on a B-25 aircraft called the "Dirty Dora". During that time, he flew numerous bombing missions over New Guinea. Perry served in the United States Air Force for over 20 years, retiring as Senior Master Sergeant at Dyess Air Force Base in 1966. After retiring from the service, Perry was employed by the City of Abilene in the Water Utilities Division where he worked until retiring in 1982. Moving from Abilene, the couple has lived in Clyde for the past 25 years. Perry was a member of Woodlawn Church of Christ. Preceding Perry in death were his parents, B.B. and Fannie Scott, one son, Matt Scott on February 16, 2007, one sister, Frances Shelton, and one brother, Junior Scott. Perry is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Scott of Clyde; one son, Perry Scott, Jr. and his wife Leanne of Abilene; one daughter-in-law, Trisha Scott of Buffalo Gap; two granddaughters, Kathryn Scott Gilreath and her husband Scott Gilreath, and Caroline Scott, all of Abilene, and numerous nieces. Lindell Crow, Don Scott, Scott Gilreath, Jack Gilreath, Steve Kile and Derek Burbank will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made in behalf of Perry Scott's wife, Dorothy "Dot" Scott, to the Alzheimer's Association, 241 Pine Street, Suite 1-C, Abilene, Texas 79601.
