Perry Brooks, 73, of Abilene, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in the Oplin Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
PB was born August 5, 1938 in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Charlie and Euna Brooks. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Abilene. He was a well-known car dealer and wholesaler, The World's Best Wholesaler, since 1955. PB married Betty Wensel Griggs in Abilene.
PB was a lifelong resident of Abilene. He never met a stranger that didn't become a friend. He was an advocate and lover of all animals, big or small, and was always surrounded by family pets-birds, dogs, cats and raccoons. PB was a devoted son, husband, father, brother and friend to hundreds.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, JP Brooks. PB is survived by his wife, Betty Brooks of Abilene; one daughter, Candace Griggs Ray and husband Brian of Anna; two brothers, James Brooks and wife Sarah of Tye and Clayton Brooks and wife Debbie of Abilene; one sister, Auline Daniell of Leander; one grandson, Andrew Cecil Ray, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Billy Enriquez, Matt Morrow, Gary Corpian, Doyle Dodson, Freddie Beall and Richie Lollar will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be: Cody Morrow, Lee Thomas, Jimmy Williams, K.O. Killian, Stewart Douglas and Larry Hall.
