Peggy (Forsman) Trotter, 79, of Abilene passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
She was born December 14, 1933 to Fleta (McDonald) Forsman and Otto Welhelm Forsman in Roy, New Mexico. Peggy and her family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she attended Albuquerque public schools. She later moved to California for a few years while her parents were employed with Lockhead Corporation. Peggy graduated from Albuquerque High School and attended the University of New Mexico where she pledged Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Peggy enjoyed a lifelong bond with her sorority sisters. While attending the University of New Mexico she was an Art Major and was honored when her professors, Kenneth Adams and Ralph Douglas, attended her wedding on May 7, 1955.
While attending college, Peggy was recruited by Continental Airlines as an airline stewardess. She was based in Denver where she met her future husband, Billy Bob Trotter, M.D. Bob and Peggy moved to Abilene in 1960. Peggy was a member of the Junior League of Abilene, The Center for Contemporary Arts, Abilene Philharmonic Society and the 20th Century Club. She was also a member of First Baptist Church in Abilene.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Fleta Forsman. She is survived by her husband, Dr. B.B. Trotter of Abilene; one son, Robert Trotter of Allen; three daughters, Katherine Trotter of Abilene, Kristine Taylor and husband Steve of Tulsa, OK, and Karoleigh Armstrong and husband Rick of Abilene; five grandchildren, Trip Gollihar and wife Joy, Trotter Gollihar, John Taylor, Ellen Taylor and Val Armstrong; and one great-granddaughter, Farren Gollihar.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Peggy’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association of Abilene or The Center of Contemporary Arts.
