Peggy Lou Poe

Peggy Poe, 73, died Monday, May 17, 2010 at a local nursing home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Rev. David Cason will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. There is no scheduled visitation. Born September 27, 1936 in San Saba, Texas, Peggy was the daughter of Milam Taylor and Georgia (Busby) Taylor. She grew up in San Saba and graduated from San Saba High School. Peggy married Donald Poe March 21, 1953. They moved from San Saba to Abilene in 1963. Peggy loved bowling and was an artist. She owned and operated Peggy's Beauty Shop in Abilene for 10 years. Peggy was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Tommy Taylor and one sister, Joanne Pallet. Peggy is survived by her husband, Donald Poe of Abilene; two sons, David Poe and wife Christine of Abilene, Johnny Poe and wife Jennifer of Copperas Cove; one daughter, Kathy Thompson and husband Tim, of Boerne; two sisters, Dorothy Arhelger and husband Bob of Granbury, Nancy Hearne and husband Cliff of San Angelo; one sister-in-law, Carol Taylor; eight grandchildren, Katie, Michael, Jordan, Jason, Benjamine, Daniel, Joshua and Jared; nine great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews
