JoAn Prewitt Hightower
April 14, 1931 - March 2, 2025
JoAn Prewitt Hightower, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children.
Born on April 14, 1931 to Willis and Doris (Baldwin) Prewitt, JoAn lived a life full of joy, love, and adventure. She was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husbands-Thomas Eugene Davis, Billy Ray Howard, and Ralph Lloyd Hightower,-as well as her cherished cousins, Bob Allen and Jerry Hailey, who were like brothers to her, and her two sons-in-law, Steve Smith and Steve Echols.
JoAn's greatest love was her family. She is survived by her four children, Cindy (John) Biery, Mitch (Michele) Davis, Dana Smith, and Cassi (Curtis) Minzenmayer. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Craig (Meredith) Biery, Kyle (Lauren) Biery, Beau (Karley) Davis, Chase (Paige) Davis, Jason (Lauren) Long, and Jennifer (Charlie) Clarke. She also adored her fourteen great-grandchildren: Jack, Grayson, Bailey, and Bowen Biery; Will and Walker Biery; Kip and Hank Davis; Wes Davis; Isla, Ava, and Lottie Long; and Davis and Smith Clarke.
She is also survived by her dear friend and sister-in-law, Helen Smyth, whose companionship and support meant so much to her.
JoAn was a lifelong member of Winters First Methodist Church, where her faith and community played an important role in her life.
She was known for her vibrant spirit and love of life. She found joy in dancing, playing bridge, and spending time on the golf course. She was also a proud Kilgore College Rangerette, a testament to her grace, athleticism, and enthusiasm.
JoAn's legacy of love, laughter, and strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the physicians, nurses, and staff at Hendrick Hospice in Abilene for their compassionate care and support during JoAn's final days.
A service to celebrate JoAn's life will be held at Hamil Family Funeral Home on Monday, March 17th at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Methodist Church of Winters, TX or the charity of your choice in her memory.
