Pauline Bontke, of Abilene, died at her home on Tuesday, May 4, 2010. The daughter of Etta Elise (Nolte) and Alois Thomas Bontke, Jr., Pauline was born on November 12, 1933, in Abilene, and graduated from Abilene High School. She graduated from St. Johns College and Hardin-Simmons University. Pauline taught in Abilene, Dallas and Midland. From 1969 to 2006, she was office administrator and part owner of Bontke Brothers Construction Company. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Abilene. Her parents; one brother, John W. Bontke; and one sister, Etta Bontke, preceded her in death. Pauline is survived by a brother, Eugene A. Bontke and wife, Barbara, of Abilene; a sister-in-law, Kathy Bontke of Abilene; two nieces and six nephews. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 7, at Zion Lutheran Church prior to the service. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Clyde Kieschnick officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Capital Campaign, 2801 Antilley Rd., Abilene, TX 79606, or American Cancer Society, 209 S. Danville Dr., Bldg. B, Suite 107, Abilene, TX 79605.
