Paula Kaye Ray (Campbell)

Paula Kaye Ray, 83, of Abilene, Texas, made her home going to heaven on Veterans day, November 11, 2023.

A Celebration of her life of service will be 10:00am, Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Wesley Court, 2617 Antilley Road, Abilene, Texas. The services will be with Pastors Mike Harkrider and Darrin Ray of Wylie Baptist Church officiating. Additionally, her granddaughter Makayla will honor her in song.

Paula was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Paul and Hazel Campbell on July 24, 1940. She graduated from Midwest City high school in 1958 and went on to earn an associate degree. She married W. Darwin Ray on August 14, 1965, at Tinker Air Force Base Oklahoma City, OK. She worked as a Procurement Specialist in Civil Service, Defense and aerospace while faithfully supported her husband’s Air Force and post Air Force career, raising a family while living around the world, including Thailand where her son Darrin was born. She and Darwin were dedicated Patriots that loved their family and Lord, having served their country, church and community faithfully for many years.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Hazel Campbell. Paula and Darwin supported and cared for Hazel for the last 30 years of her life.

Paula is survived by her loving husband, Darwin, a special man, retired Air Force Colonel: Daughter Michelle, and her husband, Doug Reader, of Flower Mound Texas; her son Darrin and his wife Dr. Carri Ray of Abilene Texas: she enjoyed four grandchildren, Ryan (Estero, Florida), Paul (Chandler Arizona), Makayla Reader (Flower Mound Texas) and Carrmin Ray (Abilene Texas). She had 2 great-grandchildren, Zyan and Ellie Rose Reader of Estero Florida
