Paul Kelly Rose died in a local hospital on July 10, 2010. Kelly was born November 21, 1968. He battled medical problems most of his life. He was the toughest of the tough, and was forced to endure some pain everyday of his life. Unfortunately his musical ability was never fulfilled because of his disability. Even with one hand, though, he delighted in playing the piano.
Kelly graduated from Cooper High School and attended Abilene Christian University. Kelly earned over 80 hours towards his degree. He received a lot of help and understanding from numerous faculty members as they assisted him.
Kelly loved his family and friends, and was especially proud of his sister, Katie, and brother, Jeff. He was an inspiration for all his family and never complained.
Kelly is survived by his mother Karen, his father Jim, older brother Jeffrey, younger sister Katherine Anna Gloyna, brother-in-law Myrick Gloyna, and nephew James Preston Gloyna, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 12th, at the Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal, with The Reverend Rosemary P. Thomas officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
The family expresses special thanks to the nurses and aids of Mesa Springs for their extra effort and years of service providing Kelly with care and comfort, as well as to Dr. B. J. Estes and Kelly's friend, Dr. Victor Hudman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, TX 79605, or the donor's charity of choice.
