Paul Grohman, 83, died Monday, September 21, 2009, at an Abilene medical center.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in Masonic Section of the Abilene Municipal Cemetery with Larry Bailey officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. There will be viewing from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Paul was born on January 2, 1926 in Milam County, Texas, and graduated from Lawn (Texas) High School before enlisting in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Since 1956, he had been a resident of Abilene, working in marketing for food brokerage firms. Mr. Grohman also judged rabbit, turkey and poultry shows throughout Texas. He attended the Church of Christ.
His wife, Gracie Perry Grohman, whom he married on March 14, 1954 in Abilene, preceded him in death in December of 1991. In November of 2000, he married Wanda Cummings in Abilene.
Paul is survived by his wife, Wanda Cummings Grohman, of Abilene; five children: Paul W. Grohman and wife Gail, of Pearland, Kay A. Grohman, of Sugar Land, Jim W. Grohman, of Abilene, Evelyn Hughes and husband L.R., of Baird and Michael Smalley, of Abilene; five grandchildren: Kristi McCullar and husband Clay, Charlie Smalley and wife Annie, Lyndi Harris, Erin Hicks and husband Brad, and Lauren Grohman; as well as four great-grandchildren: Jaycee, Kalyn and Michael Smalley and Jack Harris.
