Paul Blanton Frost, 87, passed away peacefully in his sleep May 16, 2014, from natural causes in Bedford, Texas.
Visitation will be Monday, May 19, 2014, from 6-8 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. in Abilene. Graveside services will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, May 20 in Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, with Rev. Palmer McCown officiating.
Paul was born in Ector, Texas, June 27, 1926, the youngest of seven children to William E. Frost and Florence Arnett Frost. The family later moved to Abilene where Paul lived until 2010 when he moved to Grapevine to be near family.
Paul raised his family, earned his living and attended church in Abilene for 60 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
A veteran of the Navy, Paul and his three brothers served in WWII, each in a separate branch of the military. He was attending Abilene High School when he enlisted in 1944.
After his discharge from the Navy he entered and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University where he played football on a scholarship with his two older brothers, Vern Frost and Conway Frost with very fond memories of Coach Warren Woodson.
Paul was a loving, caring family man who loved his children and siblings. He was a golfer and loved to fish, hunt and spend vacations in the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico. He always had one of the prettiest yards on the block that included a vegetable garden.
After graduating from HSU he worked at Hendrick Hospital, then as a land scout for Standard Oil Co. for several years. Before retiring in 1982 he ended his career as the National Representative for the National Homebuilders Assn. where he made lifelong friends and traveled the United States.
Paul was preceded in death by one son, Paul McKinney (Kin) Frost, and his six older siblings, Arnett, Camille Lacewell of Friona, Douglas of Plano, C. M. (Conway) of Abilene, Edith Cockrell of Chico, Calif. and Lavern of Abilene.
Paul is survived by three children, Debby Frost Holt of Grapevine, Sandy Frost Borofsky and husband, Gary of Colleyville, and Kevin Frost of Abilene, six grandchildren and his best friend since high school, Eugene Goltz of Abilene.
