Paul L. Baker, 64, died Monday, August 3, 2009, at his residence in Clyde, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 6, in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene with Lance Voorhees officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The son of Pauline (Dacus) and Thomas Lester Baker, he was born on May 20, 1945 in Hillsboro, Texas, and served in the U. S. Army. Paul held a Bachelor of Arts degree, and was self-employed in a business forms business. He married Peggy Hood on June 20, 1969 in Snyder, and moved from Lubbock to Abilene in 1980. His father preceded him in death. Paul is survived by his wife, Peggy Baker of Clyde; sons, Brent Baker of Scottsdale, Arizona, and David Baker and wife, Cortney, of Georgetown; and granddaughter, Kate Baker of Georgetown. Survivors also include his mother, Pauline Baker of Snyder and his sisters and brothers, Ann Baker and Jane Bolin of Abilene, Keith Baker of Oklahoma City, Ron Baker of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Tom Baker of Lubbock. The family expresses a special "thank you" to Paul's Army Buddy, Steve Sipos, and his "Angels" with Hospice of the Big Country.
