Patsy Lake Monhollon, 78, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on July 23, 2013 in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, at the home of Mike and Rachel Monhollon, 10 Lilac Circle, Abilene.
The memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, at the Logsdon Chapel on the campus of Hardin-Simmons University with Dr. Kelly Pigott, the HSU chaplain, officiating. A brief reception will follow. Arrangements are by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
Patsy Lake was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, to Lake and Agnes Pylant on April 22, 1935. She married Jimmie Monhollon on May 31, 1954, in Plainview, Texas. She was graduated from Wayland Baptist College, Peabody College, now part of Vanderbilt University, and the University of Richmond School of Law. She served multiple churches as church librarian, often after setting up the church library. After she raised her four children, she went to law school and ran her own law practice for 11 years, partnering with her son Mike for 7 of those years. She is the author of six books.
She is survived by her husband Jimmie, by her four children, Mike Monhollon and wife Rachel, Melody Knight and husband Larry, Marsha Gilbert, and John Monhollon and wife Chastity, by her sister Rose Melody Davis, by her ten grandchildren, Jeremiah Yarbrough, Justin Allen, Mandy Yarbrough, Ellie Allen, Seth Monhollon, Joshua Monhollon, Hannah Monhollon, Conner Gilbert, Scott Gilbert, and Patsy Lake Monhollon, and by her three great-grandchildren, Laidan Yarbrough, Audrey Allen, and Ian Yarbrough.
