Patsy Mae Cumbie

Patsy Mae Cumbie, 82, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 at her residence in Abilene. Born in Stonewall County, Texas on November 22, 1928, Pat was the daughter of Maye Belle (Gholson) and Evin Gholston. Mrs. Cumbie was the County Commissioner, Precinct #2 in Stonewall County, Texas, having served from January, 1987 to December, 2002. She moved from Aspermont to Abilene in 2006. Pat was a member of Aspermont Church of Christ and a longtime supporter of the 4-H Club. She helped with whatever she was asked to do. Pat had been the caretaker for her parents for many years prior to their deaths. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Ross "RT" Cumbie. Survivors include her son, Jerry Cumbie and Scarlett Adkins of Abilene; two daughters, Lea Ann Turnacliff of Midland and Janice Sitterle and husband, Frank, of San Antonio; and four grandchildren, Ross Turnacliff, Taylor Cumbie, Braelee Cumbie and Jackson Cumbie. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20, at First Baptist Church in Aspermont, Texas with Bob Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Geneview in Stonewall County directed by McCoy-Giles Funeral Home of Aspermont. Viewing will be Saturday, February 19, at McCoy-Giles Funeral Home. Local arrangements were made by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Pallbearers will be Waylon Gray, Shorty Martin, William Gholson, Shawn Powell, Rob Black and Kenny Moore. Memorials may be made to Stonewall County Senior Citizens.
