Patricia Baugh Vaughn

1937 — February 15, 2006

Patricia Vaughn, 69, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at a local hospital. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, February 19, 2006 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Monday, February 20, 2006 at First Christian Church, 1420 North 3rd Street. Dr. Tom Lyda, Dr. Chris Diebel, Rev. Ross Bennett, Rev. Tony Salisbury, and Rev. Doug Roysden will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. Patricia was born on January16, 1937 in Brownwood, Texas. She was adopted by Frank and Alta Meleen in November of 1938. Pat attended Texas Christian University and in 1958 she graduated with Bachelor's Degree. She later graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Master's Degree in 1964. On August 12, 1987, Patricia married Jim Baugh. Jim passed away November 24, 1999. She is survived by Jim's daughter Chere Thomas and her two daughters, Kellie and Jodie. Patricia was blessed when she found true love again and married Dr. William J. Vaughn on October 13, 2001. Patricia was a beloved school teacher for many years. She taught in Everman for one year, the Hurst school district for two years, and Tye for two years. She taught first grade at Valley View Elementary in Abilene for nineteen years. Following retirement, Patricia was an active member of the Harmony Club and the pianist and organist for Brook Hollow Christian Church and a member of the Future Fund of Abilene. She was presently the pianist for the Searchers Sunday School at the First Christian Church, where she was a member. Patricia married Dr. William J. Vaughn on October 13, 2001. Although they were only married for a few years, Pat and William shared a very deep love for one another. Dr. Vaughn survives his wife. Theresa Williams Turner, Barbara Chambers, and Patricia were known as "The Three Sisters", which was a very important part of Patricia's life. Even though they weren't related, they shared a bond as close as sisters. Barbara preceded Patricia in death. "Momma Pat" is survived by her step daughter, Cheryl Horton and her husband Ricky of Grand Prairie, TX and her step son, Ronald Vaughn and his wife Diane of Ft. Collins, Colorado. "Grandma Pat" is survived by her four step grandsons, Shawn McElyea, Alan, Mitchell and Stuart Vaughn. Pat is also survived by her cousins, George Richard and Crissy Kyser of Erie, Kansas, Gerald Stephens of Boulder, Colorado and Barbara Wilson; many lifelong friends including the "Dirty Eight Club" which consists of her fellow teachers, and her caring church family. She also leaves behind her loyal and faithful canine, Shiloh C.M. Laurence, Downing Bolls, Jim Johnson, Bob Evans and Scott Smith will serve as pallbearers.
