Patricia Ann Shirey

Patricia (Patsy) Ann Kornegay Shirey, age 72, of Roanoke, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2018 in Grapevine, Texas, surrounded by loved ones in her final hours. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday March 9th, 2018 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home on 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd in Abilene, TX. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 in the chapel at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with her brother, Harvey Joe Kornegay officiating. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. in The Rising Star Cemetery in Rising Star, Texas. A reception and celebration will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2018 at Abilene Seventh Day Church, 2542 E. Overland Tr, Abilene, Texas 79601. Patsy was born in Gorman, Texas to Harvey (Cuz) Joe Kornegay and Lona Kornegay on January 18, 1946. She graduated from Permian High School in Odessa, Texas and proceeded with her studies at Texas Tech University. She worked various managerial positions in the Grocery Store business for 35 years. She made working her life and made many special friends and relationships as she walked the aisles in the grocery stores and made sure all her favorite customers got the "special" TLC care from Miss Patsy. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents Harvey(Cuz) Joe and Lona Kornegay and her grandparents Jessie and Ruthie Kornegay, maternal grandparents and aunts and uncles. Patsy is survived by her three children: E. Lynn Shirey II and wife Christina, Ragan Harris and husband Eric Harris and Emily Yarish and husband Jim. Patsy had a brother, Harvey Joe Kornegay and wife Kimberly and sister Connie Beam. Patsy had seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren with one great granddaughter on the way. Patsy was known as "Nani" to her grandchildren and referred to her great-grandchildren as her "littles". Pallbearers will be Lynn Shirey, Blake Harris, Blane Harris, David Beam, Jasper Jones and Juan Diocares. The family of Patricia Ann Kornegay Shirey wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Rohan Jeyarajah who did a miraculous surgery which gave her several more years of making priceless memories with her loved ones. And we would also like to thank the Grapevine, Texas Baylor Scott and White ICU Staff and nurses who worked tirelessly taking care of our precious mom in her last days of life here in earth.
