Patricia Cheek

Patricia "Pat" Ann Smith Cheek, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024, in Abilene. She was born in Abilene on May 13, 1941, to Herman and Juanita Smith.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00pm on Friday, April 5, 2024 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. Funeral services will be 10:00am Saturday, April 6, 2024 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Pat was born and raised in Abilene, Texas where she went to Wylie High School. While working as a carhop at Baums in Abilene she met and married Jim Cheek in 1958.

Pat and Jim went on to be married for 64 years and have 8 children. To stay at home while the kids were little, Pat ran an in-home daycare center taking care of numerous children over the years. She went on to work for Timex then went into the banking industry working at Abilene National Bank and various others, retiring from BBVA Compass.

Pat was an amazing woman whose children and grandchildren saw as their hero; she was always there to help and support. She adored her husband Jim and missed him greatly over the past year. She loved spending her days with her family around the dinner table and spending her time with her Grandchildren and Great-GrandChildren. Pat, Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma will be greatly missed by all.

Pat is survived by her eight kids: Debbie and David Rodriguez, Deedee Snapp, Shelley Bernal, Stephanie and Moazzam Shah, Jimmy and Joann Cheek, Kevin Cheek, Timothy and Shea Cheek, and Kimberly Cheek; siblings Danny, Sr. and Kathy Smith, Nita and Jimmie Underwood, Sister-in law Linda Smith, Sister-in law Marion Smith; eight grandkids; eight great-grandkids, and lots of nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband Jim, mother Juanita and father Herman, brother Roger Smith, brother Bryan Smith, her son-in -law Richard Snapp, and grandson Jonathan Marks.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Smith, Russell Smith, Scottie Smith, David Carnes, Daryl Carnes, and Danny Smith Jr.  Honorary pallbearer is Kyle Johnson.
