Ora Sue Tubbs
Ora Sue Tubbs went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, December 9, 2005. A celebration service of Sue's life will be held at 3:30 pm on Monday, December 12, 2005 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, with the Reverend David Leyerle officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Sue was born October 25, 1919, in Noodle, Texas, to Claude and Lillie Derrick. She was married to William Robert Tubbs, who preceded her in death on May 9, 1991. Two brothers, two sisters, and son, Gerald Kent Satterwhite, also preceded Sue in death. She was employed by the Abilene Independent School District for eleven years and Abilene Commercial College where she taught. Sue was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Abilene.
Survivors include three daughters: Bobbi Sue Jennings of Coppell, Pam Nicholas of Abilene, and Kathy and husband Larry Hoefer of Waco; one daughter-in-law, Betty Satterwhite, of New York City; six grandchildren: Alison Schupp and husband Chris of Columbia, Missouri; Lindsay Anderson and husband John of Keller; Matt Jennings and wife Angela of Frisco; Derrick Nicholas and fiancé Ashly Lindley of Abilene; Tyler Hoefer and wife Meagan of Quantico, Virginia; and Bennett Hoefer of Waco; seven great grandchildren: Cole and Garret Anderson; Sydney, Samantha and Sophia Schupp; and Colton and Savannah Jennings.
A beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother—Nanny will be missed.
