Ora Torres, 83, of Abilene died Friday, March 14, 2014, at an Abilene medical center. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 17th at the Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Father Sam Matthiesen officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Ora was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to Edmundo and Dolores (Cisneros) Juarez on July 4, 1930. She married Isaac Torres in Corpus Christi on March 12, 1948. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Ora was preceded in death by her parents and a son Richard Torres.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Isaac “Ike” Torres of Abilene; son Raul “Rudy” Torres and wife Angelita of Houston; daughter Lillian Torres of Abilene; brothers Raul Juarez and wife Carmen of Fort Worth and Guadalupe Juarez and wife Dixie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister Natalia Benavides and husband Jesse of Corpus Christi; two grandchildren Kimberly Scalf and Angelita Gonzales and three great-grandchildren Tyler Cook, Olivia Scalf and Alesandra Gonzales.
