Ora Davis, 91, passed to a better life early Friday morning in Grand Prairie. She went peacefully and no longer lives in the fog called Alzheimer's. Graveside services will be this morning, Saturday, October 28, 2006 at 11:00 am in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 this morning at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Ora was born on July 16, 1915 in Palo Pinto County to William T. Roberts and Beaulah Scofield Roberts. She married Walter Davis December 28, 1935 in Anson, Texas. Ora lived in Abilene for over 60 years and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church since 1945. She was a volunteer at her church and was a good Christian woman who lived her life to help others. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, three brothers, one sister, and her husband, Walter Davis, on August 2, 1985. Ora is survived by her daughter, Betsy Parrish and her husband Chester of Irving, Texas; her son Bob Davis of Abilene; three grandchildren, Cindy Davis and her husband Lee of Nacogdoches, Scott Parrish and his wife Amy of Southlake, Karla Hamil and her husband Robert of Abilene; and six great-grandchildren, Tyler and Bryce Davis of Nacogdoches, Cory Parrish-U.S. Coast Guard in California, Shawnacee Parrish of Southlake, and Aaron and John Austin Hamil of Abilene.
