Omer Dee Malone, 78, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011 at Hendrick Medical Center.
Omer Dee was born January 20, 1933 in Abilene to Edward Dee and Jeffie Shields Malone. He attended school in Abilene and graduated from Ranger Junior College. He was married to Geraldine Boyd on December 1, 1951. Omer Dee was a member of the United States Marine Corps and served his tour of duty in the Korean War. He was wounded in action and received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and The Purple Heart.
He retired from Foremost Dairy Company in 1978 as Operations Manager. He then worked for Martin Sprocket and Gear until he retired in 1995.
Omer Dee was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geraldine Malone in 2006; and sisters, Bobbie Skipper and Merle Waddell.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Jane Malone of Abilene; three granddaughters, Jennifer McDaniel and husband Russell of Abilene, Jill Pearson and husband Wes of Midland, and Jaime Malone of Fort Worth; four great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Jaden McDaniel of Abilene, and Blakely and Brooklyn Pearson of Midland; sister, Ercile Irion; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with military honors will be held Thursday, October 27, at 11:00 a.m. in Elmwood Memorial Park officiated by Rev. David Cason. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
