Olen G. Holtz, 89, died Monday, December 10, 2018 in Abilene, Texas.
The son of the late Amanda Elizabeth (Tomlinson) and John William Holtz I, Olen was born on August 8, 1929 in Coleman, Texas and graduated from Coleman High School. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts, having served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. By profession, he was a longtime meat cutter. Olen married Juanita Feeler in Coleman, Texas.
In addition to his parents, Olen was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters, Hazel Fields, Grace Griffin, J. W. Holtz II, and Mary Alice Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Juanita Holtz of Abilene, and one brother and four sisters, Dorothy Holtz Yates of Pensacola, Florida, Robert L. Holtz of San Angelo, TX, Fay Hall of Apalachin, NY, Mae White and Patsy Burnett both of Eastland, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 14, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 15, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Minton officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials donations in Olen’s name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Ben Richey Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 6839, Abilene, TX 79608, or to the donor’s charity of choice.
