Olan Tally, 97, died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at an Abilene nursing center.
The son of Maude Ethel (Sprouls) and A.B. Tally, Olan was born on April 4, 1914 in Comanche County, Texas. In 1920 he moved to Buffalo Gap where he attended school. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. Olan worked for Taylor County, Precinct 3 as a heavy equipment operator. He had been a resident of Abilene since 2000. He was a Baptist.
Olan was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ardell Tally in 2001; parents; son, Gerald Dale McCraw; two sisters; five brothers and five great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Gary Kirt McCraw of Abilene; daughter, Jeanne Ann Williams of Humble, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 27, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road with Rev. Rodney Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Buffalo Gap Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
