Novaleen Franklin, 75, of Abilene, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010 at a local hospital. A Prayer and Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 in the Potosi Cemetery with Don Cauble officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:00 pm on Tuesday, November 16 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. January 13, 1935, Nova was born in Callahan County to Harry Gordon Franklin and Bertie Inez (Fuqua) Franklin. She graduated from Wylie High School in 1953. Nova was an avid Historian. She worked for Byrd-Shaw-Weeks-Calhoun and Bradshaw Law Firm for 17 years and Chester Hutchenson (Taylor County Clerk) for over 5 years. Nova worked as a secretary at the Abilene State School, now the Abilene State Supported Living Center, for 17 years before retiring in 1995. She attended Highland Church of Christ. Preceding her in death were her parents, Harry and Inez Franklin, one brother, Earl Dean Franklin and one sister, Billie Maxine Derden. Nova is survived by her aunt, Bennie Neal, of Potosi; one brother, Jerry Franklin and wife Jo Ann, of Houston; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, many, many close friends. Memorials may be made in Nova's honor to the donor's favorite charity.
