Norma Louise Woodard, 82, of Abilene, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at a local nursing home. Funeral services, with Joe Welsh officiating, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, prior to service time. January 8, 1926, Louise was born in Colorado City, Texas to the late Benjamin Franklin Williams and Ethel (Seals) Williams. She attended Abilene High School. Louise married Donald Ray Woodard in Abilene on January 10, 1942. She retired from Dyess Army and Air Force Exchange after 25 years of service. Preceding Louise in death were her parents, her husband Donald Ray Woodard on May 8, 2006; one daughter, Donna Woodard Davis in 1964; one sister, Alta Mae Johnson and one grandson, Jeff Scott. She is survived by one son, Ray Woodard, of Pataskala, Ohio; one daughter, Jean Scott and her husband David, of Merkel; one brother, Finnis Williams, of Houston; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made in honor of Louise Woodard to Windcrest Alzheimer's Care Center, 6050 Hospital Drive, Abilene, Texas 79606.
