Jean Self

Jean Self, 78, of Abilene, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in Abilene.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, February 3, 2025, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. A committal service will be at 2:00 p.m., at The Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, 7457 W. Lake Rd, with Carson Burns officiating.

Norma "Jean" Self was born in Jay, Oklahoma, to Louise and Orville Benge on January 15, 1947. She worked in Accounts Payable for Hardin Simmons University for many years. Jean married Reginald "Reggie" Self, in Blytheville, Arkansas on December 11, 1981.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents.

Jean is survived by her husband, Reggie Self of Abilene; four children, James Dempsey and Bradley Dempsey both of Abilene, Julie Briscoe and husband Brice of N. Little Rock, Arkansas, Christy McMillion and husband Bobby of Cabot, Arkansas; sisters, Sharon Herring of Seven Springs, North Carolina and Joyce Copeland of Fairbanks, Alaska; Jean is also survived by her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bobby McMillion, Brandon McMillion, Christopher McMillion, Michael Briscoe, Athena Briscoe, and Brice Briscoe.
