Nora Crawford

Early in the morning on December 3, 1927, God placed a brown eyed baby girl in the arms of a precious and loving family, Joe and Vonia Lawrence of Shep, Texas. They named her Nora Cadelia, also in that home was Fred (Buddy), Avo and Aubrey Gale. Five years later God blessed them with a beautiful baby girl naming her Ouida. We all grew up in the Shep farming community. We were members of our little Shep Baptist Church. We all knew when Sunday morning came, we would be going to church and Sunday School without fail.

Cadelia graduated from Shep's seventh grade. She entered Blackwell High School. Graduating in 1946. She entered Draughn's Business College in Abilene, TX. From there she was employed at Montgomery Ward, working there for three years and later moved away, years later returned to work at Montgomery Ward again. Working thirteen years, she took her retirement and was employed at Abilene State School as a secretary for seventeen years. She retired in 1993.

Cadelia started working for Berenice Smith, Gladys Buttree and many other elders. She loved their Companionships so very immensely. After their deaths she worked for Dunlop's three years, in the shoe department, enjoyed that also and meeting many wonderful people.

Cadelia was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church and in the Love Sunday School class. She was a member of the VFW auxiliary and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 30.

She is survived by: A son Gordon Crawford and wife Bridget, a grandson Josh Crawford. A sister Ouida Garr of Cisco. There are many nieces and nephews, added to this list are two special long-time friends, Angelia Pippin and Gene Williams. Cadelia also cherished dearly, her loving neighbors who always came to her every needs.
