Nollie Jaynes Hass, 89, died Thursday, August 12, at an Abilene nursing center.
Born on November 19, 1920, in Comanche County, Texas, Nollie was the daughter of Elma (Gaines) and Joe D. Jaynes. She married Thomas Gordon Hass on July 2, 1940 in Merkel, Texas, and resided in Merkel, Graham, Baird, Dudley and Potosi. She was a member of Potosi Baptist Church.
Nollie was a homemaker. She also worked for Graham Public Schools, and was a checker for both A & P Grocery Store in Baird and the first Gibson's Discount Store in Abilene where she worked for 15 years. She retired from the Abilene State School.
Her parents; husband Gordon Hass; daughter Janis McWhorter; brother J.E. Jaynes; granddaughter Teri Lynn McWhorter; and grandson Dwight Langlitz, preceded Nollie in death.
Nollie is survived by two sons, Tommy Hass and wife Rose of Abilene, and Dickie Hass and wife Jan of Abilene; daughter, Elaine Willingham and husband Vernon of Cisco; sister, Bonnie Hansen of Waco; brother, Bill Jaynes and wife Ann of Clyde; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 15, at Potosi Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Keith Clifton and Rev. H. B. Terry, Jr. Burial will follow in Potosi Cemetery directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 14, at the funeral home.
