Nick “Cowboy” Baker, 63, died Sunday, March 22, 2015 in Abilene, Texas at a medical center.
Born in Coleman, Texas on March 18, 1952, Nick was the son of Norma Ruth (Jones) Miller and Howard Glenn Baker. After graduation from high school he attended college in Odessa, graduating in 1972. He was a lifelong barber, having worked at Town House Barber Shop in San Angelo until 2001 when he moved to Abilene where he worked at Elmwood West Barber Shop.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents; son, Matthew Sherwood; and wife, Ruby Nell Grun Baker.
Survivors include two sons, Scott Glenn Baker of Del Rio, Texas, and Shane Douglas Baker of San Angelo; ex-wife, Jennifer Baker of Miles, Texas; two sisters, Becky Moon of Albany, Texas, and Karen Garrett and husband Mark of Odessa; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, in The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, with Rev. David Cason officiating. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, in Ft. Stockton East Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Moon, H.G. Harris, Jay Martin, J. Way, Steven Morris, and Mike Barbian.
