Nicholas Ferris Shaheen

Nicholas Ferris Shaheen, Sr, 83, died Saturday, March 15, 2008 in Abilene. On March 18, the visitation will be at 10:00 am prior to the 11:00 am service at the St. Luke Antiochian Orthodox Church, 501 Sunset, with Father Phillip LeMasters officiating, under the direction of the Hamil Family Funeral Home. Nick was born October 5, 1924 in Canton, Ohio to Ferris Said and Kalaik Shaheen. He graduated from Timken High School in Canton and attended Iowa University and Kent State. He married Victoria A. "Vicki" Shaheen. Nick served in WW II as a U.S. Army Medic. He was a Mason, a member of Suez Shrine, VFW, and The Phoenicians Club in Canton, Ohio. Nick was a long time member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Ohio and was a current member of the St. Luke Antiochian Orthodox Church in Abilene. Nick was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers, James F. Shaheen, George F. Shaheen and wife Rose, and Dr. Loyd F. Shaheen. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Lydia Thompson of Carrollton, TX; two sons, Nick Shaheen, Jr of Canton, Ohio and Mark N. Shaheen of Carrollton, TX. He is survived by nine sister- in- laws, Audrey Shaheen, Nahe Shaheen, Rosemary Choate, Margaret Fanous, Barbara Price, Edra Westmoreland, Nina Lehrman, Ginny Shaheen, Joan Shaheen McCollom; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephens and many cousins. Memorials may be made to St. Luke Antiochian Orthodox Church, 501 Sunset, Abilene, TX or the donor's favorite charity .
