Neva Dell Newton

1914 — February 22, 2007

Neva Newton, 92, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2007 in Burnet, Texas. Graveside services will be today, Saturday February 24, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hawley Cemetery, under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Rev. Ronnie Newton will officiate. May 11, 1914, Neva was born in Jones County to James Washington Box and Nancy Berthia (Kendrick) Box. She lived in Abilene until 1991, when she moved to Burnet to be near family. Neva was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Auda Cash Newton, one grandson, Herbert Newton, and one son-in-law, Robert Derby. She is survived by her son, Jerry Newton and his wife Gladys, of Burnet, Texas; her daughter, Wanda Derby of Greenville, Texas; seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
