Nelson F. Donahoo, Jr., 79, of Abilene, passed away on the 20th of January, 2025.
Burial services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, the 31st of January, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, 7457 W. Lake Road, with Pastor Steve Patterson of First Methodist Church of Abilene officiating.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Nelson will commence at 12:30 pm in the MAC at First Methodist Church of Abilene at 202 Butternut St. Please join us for lite refreshments, fond remembrances and tall tales of his many adventures.
Nelson was born in Knox City, Texas, to Nelson F. Donahoo, Sr. and Zena McMeans-Doanhoo on the 18th of June, 1945. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1964. After High School he married the love of his life, his wife of nearly 60 years, on the 9th of August, 1965. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served in Vietnam 1966 to 1967. After release from the US Marine Corps in 1969, he enrolled in 1970 in business classes at Hardin Simmons University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1972. He enjoyed a successful career in business serving in sales management and marketing management roles for several Fortune 500 companies until he retired in August of 2008. Nelson was a devoted Christian, loving husband, father and grandfather. He was athletically gifted and excelled at golf. He was passionate about golf, family and dear friends.
Nelson is survived by his loving wife, Linda Kay Donahoo of Abilene, his son, Philip Andrew Donahoo and his wife Amy Donahoo of Raleigh, NC, his sister Angela Avery and her husband Col. James Avery of Abilene, and his grandchildren, Tanner, Hayden, Georgia, Joellen and Marley.
